Putting in a motor for an electric gate that is buried underground can be a formidable challenge.
Do not do this unless you are confident in your ability to succeed.
Before beginning this process, read any applicable safety warnings and installation guides.
Contact the manufacturer for further explanation if you have questions about the instructions. With this manual’s help, you can put in an underground gate motor kit for two gates. Check the strength of the posts or pillars to see if they can support the gates before you start digging. Please wait at least two weeks for the mortar or concrete to set if they were recently built.
Initial Inspections
Verify that the structure is appropriate and conforms with all applicable requirements before beginning installation. More specifically, you should verify the following:
Make sure the mounting area is compatible with the dimensions of the underground box; provide a closing strike; ensure there are no points of friction in the opening and closing travel of the gate; ensure the entrance is well balanced, i.e., once it is stopped in any position, it should not show a tendency to start moving again; ensure the gate opens and closes smoothly and quietly; ensure the area selected for gear motor installation allows for easy and safe manual operation.
Casting foundation walls.
1. Dig a hole for the foundation using the overall measurements plus at least 100 millimeters on all sides to ensure a solid connection and adequate drainage to prevent water from pooling.
The stud must be perpendicular to the axis of the hinge when you set the box inside the foundation hole.
Install a sizable drain pipe and a duct for the wires to run through.
The fourth step is to fill the foundation box with concrete, leaving a small amount above ground.
Five, affix the ball and the control bracket to the stud on the box.
Six, mount the gate leaf on the trigger and solder them together.
7 Always use the proper grease nozzle when greasing the bearing.
Make sure the heel of the casing is filled with concrete, as here is where the weight of the gate will rest, and allow around 100 mm of concrete surrounding the box and 100 mm underneath the container when placing the foundation box.
This schematic depicts the most fundamental cable arrangement for two motors. The control panel must have a constant, protected power source that complies with all applicable local electrical codes. The power source must have a minimum amperage rating of 6. To prevent water from entering unnecessarily, all exterior wiring must be approached from below to establish a “drip loop” before being laid.
Some newer motors use low-voltage direct current (dc), which makes for a more peaceful and secure setup.
Putting up the fences
Please ensure the gates’ pivot points are correctly oiled before you install them. Before welding the shoe’s entrance, ensure the hinges are square, and the door is leveled. A U-shaped carrying shoe made from mild steel that can be soldered to the top surface of the shoe is required for hanging wooden gates. The U-shaped carrying shoe is clamped to the base of the gates, and the wooden gate is bolted into place.
Everything to do with the electronics.
The electronic control board is described at great length in the manual. Before drilling holes in the box for the cables, you must remove the circuit board. You could have to replace the whole board if you make a mistake. You’ll need to drill three sufficiently large holes to accommodate the tubing: one for the power input, one for the left small box, and one for the correct small box.
Before adding the receiver and tuning in the remote controls or connecting the safety photo-cells, ensure the control card is powered on, and the low voltage output is correct.
Please refer to the manual for a comprehensive list of tests and verifications. When everything is set up and the gate functions as it should, you should be incredibly proud of yourself for tackling such a challenging task.
In my experience as a professional installer, I have found that the average number of visits per client is four, with each visit taking between four and eight hours to complete.
I pray this information helped set up your automated gate. The mechanical and electrical installation procedures detailed here are the bare minimum. Feel free to contact me through my site for further information.
