Digital avatars will become photorealistic and fully programmable, speaking by 2020.
In four years, we’ll be able to fully manipulate photorealistic avatars to say, well… anything. This year, researchers out of Stanford were able to take videos of humans and, in real-time, manipulate their faces to match expressions of another person in the lab. Scary.
By 2020, this is going to get even better. We’ll be able to render any face to do and say anything, and you won’t be able to tell it’s fake. Add this to advances in algorithmic audio dubbing, and we’ll be able to type text into a program which will then spit it out in the exact voice of the person.
“And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.” (Revelation 13:15)
