1998 vs 2017 – Life and Technology in the past 20 years

As illustrated in this video, a lot has changed in life and technology in 20 years.

Technology has evolved and so has data protection.

In 1998 the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) was passed in UK Parliament and holds a maximum fine of up to £500,000 following a data breach.

Now, in 2017, we’re currently preparing for the GDPR (25th May 2018) with fines of up to €20m or 4% of the business’s global turnover.
