To achieve this, use the drinking water machine. Without a water dispenser, the ice maker’s first whole batch of ice produced should be discarded.

Next comes the U, sometimes known as the J. This should be placed at both the top and bottom of the sheets. This profile has been designed to prevent debris like dirt, dust, and insects from entering the channels. Small holes (1/8″) should be cut into the U’s bottom roughly every 2′ to facilitate drainage.

After that comes the F-profile section, the corner can be made with this. When this component is unavailable, we occasionally make do by putting U-shaped cuts in the outer edges of our sheets and then butting them tightly together. Polycarbonate ridge profiles are available from several manufacturers.

Apple has allowed us to avoid shelling out for a new personal computer that we might only use sometimes. Since around 2006, Mac has allowed dual booting of Windows and macOS. Aren’t they brilliant? So now that we have the option of using our Mac to run Windows or Mac OS X, we think to ourselves, “Hey, awesome idea, but ummm, how do I do that?” You didn’t even install the current OS on your Mac, yet you’ve decided to install an entirely new one. I know, it’s a scary thought. However, I am here to make you feel less intimidated (is that even a word?).

Boot Camp allows you to run Windows on your Mac.

When running Windows on a Mac, most people turn to Boot Camp. Why is it so well-liked, exactly? The first advantage is that there is no cost. However, it is an Apple product, so you may expect it to perform better than competing products. Also, you may use resource-intensive software, like games or video editors, without worrying about compatibility issues because you can boot up completely into another operating system.

Obtaining Windows Is The First Step. It is highly recommended that you run Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate with any version of Boot Camp. If you’re unsure whether you need the additional features of Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate, Microsoft’s comparison table can help you decide. Alrighty! So, you’re off to install all the big-time components to your stereo system. I know you want to skip the boring parts (like running wires) and go straight to installing the components and turning on your system. Nnnnnno!

As I have repeatedly said, we’re here for a QUALITY stereo install. Not some janky, lame-o quickie job. We’re installing a stereo for the life of your vehicle, and as such, we spend a little extra time doing things correctly. Sooooo, when it comes to wiring, we need to think about how we want to do something first.

To re-cap. Do you know what components you’ll be installing? Even if you don’t have all the details now, hopefully, you know your plans. This allows you to run all of the wires, so when you finally get your components, you can mount them and hook up the cables, and you’re ready to rock.

Please don’t be stupid like most people, and think of components first, THEN think about how to install them. Think of how to install components, get the installed parts, THEN install the components. DUH!!! By the way, you’ll save time and money with this approach.

Was that a long enough introduction? OK, let’s get into what you should know about wiring!

First, buy all the wirings you think you’ll need and some extra for safety. Don’t worry, your money won’t be wasted!

Next, disassemble your vehicle in the places where the wiring will be run. When I say disassemble, I mean it! Pull out seats, carpet, panels, everything! Trust me; this will make running wires easier and safer.

If you plan to use any sound insulation or damping material, it is time to lay it. If you don’t plan on using it, why not? This will make your system sound better by lowering noise and eliminating vibrations. Just do it!

Now, you get to run wires. Run them everywhere they’ll be needed. Run power wires, RCA wires, speaker wires, interface wires, and remote turn-on wires. EVERYTHING.

Now that they’re laid out how you want and need them, it’s time to secure them. Vehicle manufacturers use ties everywhere to keep wires organized and out of the way. Now it’s your turn! Many, many, many people skip this step, and I don’t think it’s too intelligent.

Why?

Because when wires are subjected to vibrations, stress, weather, and other things constantly present in vehicles, they tend to wear away. When wires wear away, you get…

Short circuits!
Vehicle fires!
Ruined components!

Don’t risk it; secure your wires!

If you have amp racks or other items that your wiring will go through, it’s time to mount them and secure them.

OK, OK. Those are the basic steps you’ll go through to run wires. But how do you do it? Let’s break it down:

1.) Measure distances between where components will be mounted and what they connect to. For example, measure from the battery to where you’ll mount your amp. Also, don’t be stupid. Buy a few extra feet at each end, so you’ll have room for error. Also, you’ll want to ensure none of the wires are stretched. You want to have some slack at each end. This will make your life much easier.

Other distances to measure:

Head unit to the amp

Amp to speakers

Head unit to cd/DVD changer, mp3 player, navigation system, etc.

Also, before you buy your wires, know what will work best with your planned components. If you’re planning to install a 500-watt amp, and you know that amp will be 17′ from the battery, use a chart to figure out what wire gauge to use. People like to get all loco in the cabeza with power wire and spend $5 a foot on 0 gauge wire. WHY??? If you don’t need it, don’t buy it!

2.) OK, so you have all your wirings ready. Now is the time to take apart parts of your vehicle. First, figure out where your wires will be run. I usually run my power wire on the same side of the car as the battery. I also typically run my RCA cables down the center of the car. Knowing this information will tell you where to remove parts from your vehicle. If you’re not running wires in a specific amount of your car, then taking anything apart won’t be necessary. UNLESS!! UNLESS!!! UNLESS!!!! You plan to put some sound-damping material down. I always recommend this!

So, here we go. Time for the fun part. First things first. Disconnect the ground (aka negative) wire from the battery.

Pull-up panels! I highly recommend some panel removal tools to remove panels. This will help protect your boards from breaking.

3.) Time to run wires!

First, we’ll run the power cable: Find a hole in the firewall of your vehicle. If you can’t find a spot, you might be able to squeeze a power cable through the far corner of your hood, by the windshield, and into your vehicle that way. If you can’t do that, then you’ll have to drill. Every car is different, but one piece of advice is always actual: Plan and be careful! Inspect where you plan to hit the hole and be sure you won’t damage anything. Take it slow, or if you’re feeling nervous, drive your vehicle to a stereo shop and have them run your power wire through the firewall. Next, run the cable wherever it will fit nicely and not be visible once you put the carpet back in place. Run it to your trunk (or wherever you plan to have your amp or distribution blocks mounted). Next, secure the cable. Use zip ties, glue, or even velcro to ensure your power cable stays where it should. Be sure it is not near any moving parts or rubbing on anything that will strip the insulation. Also, be sure it will not get in the way of anything once you re-install all of the panels, carpet, etc.

Next, run your RCA cable(s), interface cables, and Remote turn-on wire. Again, be sure the negative cable is disconnected from the battery. Disassemble any of the panels surrounding your head unit. Pull your head unit out. Next, pull up all the meetings, consoles and carpets around where you’ll run your RCA cable and interface cable. Connect the remote turn-on wire to your head unit’s wiring harness. If you plan to connect more than one or two devices to your head unit’s remote turn-on, you will want to look into installing a relay. Next, run the RCA cables, interface cable, and remote turn-on. All the stuff I said about power cables is true of RCA and interface

cables. Ensure your line is not near any moving parts, it is not rubbing against anything that will strip the insulation, and it is not to show once the panels and carpet are back in place. Connect the RCA cables to the pre-outs on your head unit, and know which RCA cable goes to which channel on your amp. Many RCA cables use color coding, so it shouldn’t be too difficult. Plug in your interface cable. Now, re-install your head unit. Make sure everything is all hooked up before you put everything back together!!

OK, last step. Let’s run speaker wire! This is exactly like running all of the other cables above. Pull up the panels. Run the wires. Be mindful of where you plan to run them. Secure them. Ensure you have a few extra feet at each end of the speaker cable. I know this sounds stupid, but trust me. It’s more stupid to spend all this time running wire only to discover it’s too short. Then, you must pull the wire up, throw it away, and run it over again. DUMB!

4.) Secure wires!

Now that your wires are run, it’s time to secure them. There are many ways to connect wires; not all will always work. You’ll probably need to use various methods to ensure your wires throughout your vehicle. Soooooo…

1.) Secure wires with zip ties to other bundles of wires.

2.) Secure wires with zip ties to small holes (or create small holes)

3.) Use glue to secure zip ties to your vehicle, then secure the wires with them.

4.) Run wires behind objects that they can be secured to.

5.) Use velcro to secure wires

5.) Secure wires to mounting locations (amp racks, speaker pods, etc.)

If you have any custom enclosure or rack for your stereo components, you’ll want to find a way to secure your wires to the rack or enclosure. If these racks or enclosures are designed to be seen, you might want to take some time making the wires visible and looking good.

In the example of amp racks, you can drill holes where all of the electrical connections go into the amp. Run the wires through these holes and to your amp. This trick will make your wires look nice and clean and keep your wires organized.

You can do various things for speaker enclosures to make the wires look good. For plexiglass subwoofer enclosures, people often choose wire that looks good. In addition, top installers will choose high-quality wire hardware (terminals) that look good. If you want your enclosure to be removable, install speaker terminals outside the square or a custom quick-release wiring harness.

This is the first in a three-part series on installing, optimizing, and publicizing a WordPress blog. Initiating your WordPress blog is covered in this first installment. In the following piece, we’ll review the best practices for optimizing your blog for search engines. The final report will focus on ways to increase traffic to your site. You can read the articles in any order you like, but I recommend starting with the installation guide, then reading the setup guide, and then reading the promotion guide.

WordPress installation on a shared hosting plan that supports subdomains. WordPress works best when installed on a subdomain. Create a subdomain to store WordPress files before installing WordPress. Fortunately, most popular hosts allow subdomain creation. Subdomains can be made with the click of a mouse. The hosting control panel for your website usually has user-friendly instructions and links for creating a subdomain. Choosing a suitable name for your subdomain is crucial. Don’t use something generic like “WordPress-blog” for your subdomain’s name. In its place, a topic-appropriate subdomain name such as “insurance-blog” would be preferable.

The key benefit of running WordPress on a subdomain is that “the search engines will consider your subdomain a separate site; hence, your blog’s links back to your site will be regarded as external links (and without diving into the exact SEO, this is beneficial). Slightly tangentially, people who keep up with the latest SEO developments would know that Google recently reduced the weight of inbound links from subdomains to their parent domains. The value of a subdomain has indeed been diminished to prevent websites from monopolizing search phrases, but it’s still worthwhile to host your blog on a subdomain because of its value.

Setting up a subdomain is optional whether you’re using a shared hosting plan or a dedicated server. WordPress can be set up on the root server that houses your website’s files. While this approach may not be ideal from an SEO standpoint, it will ensure that your WordPress blog is up and running smoothly. If you install WordPress in the same folder as the rest of your site’s files (the root directory), name the folder relevant to your chosen keyword(s). If you’re going to organize your files into a folder, for instance, use a succinct name like “blog” instead of “WordPress” or “blog.” It would be best if you also avoided the temptation to build your blog inside a folder while installing WordPress. Rather, everything related to WordPress should live in a single folder on the root directory. This does NOT rule out the possibility of subfolders within the file in question. WordPress relies on a wide variety of files and directories working together. Therefore, you should leave them alone. It would be best if you kept your blog close to the top of your directory because search engines devalue information that is more than two levels deep; this includes your blog.

The final choice is to build a blog on WordPress, where you can do it for free. This option may be the simplest and least expensive, but it gives you no say over the final URL or site structure. In addition, having the WordPress blog on your server is preferable for reasons of control. However, a free account is a beautiful option for someone curious about blogging.

I realize this is only a preamble, but where and how you set up your WordPress site will have a significant impact on its success. Keep in mind that making a subdirectory of the directory in which your website resides is the optimal solution. WordPress can also be installed in the root directory of a website. However, this is not the best option for optimization. Last but not least, if all you need is a blog, go on over to WordPress and create a free account. Although this is not as potent, it allows you to enjoy blogging.

As a long-time computer technician, I can say with confidence that adding a new piece of hardware is the single most common source of frustration for users. It could be anything from a printer to a camera to a scanner. The explanation is as follows. In most cases, a driver is already available for the device you are attempting to install. If it works, then that’s fine. The issue is that frequently these drivers do not come with installation instructions. Or, even worse, the directions are completely inaccurate. Particularly true of devices made in other nations. If I were the owner of a company whose products were largely sold in the United States, the first thing I’d do is hire a native English speaker to create the user manual.

It’s not a big deal if a writer uses a word like “ain’t” or one that would make a native English speaker cringe. But it’s nice when the author has a passing familiarity with the language so that I don’t have to spend time getting caught up. Manuals can sometimes be difficult to find because they are occasionally buried in a text file on the software’s CD-ROM.

Go to the manufacturer’s website if you’re experiencing trouble setting up. There’s probably an update available that addresses the issue, or at least a frequently asked questions (FAQ) file that explains where you went wrong. Read the instructions if you have them. You should check the CD even if there is a printed manual for your equipment. Frequently, a CD will include a fix for a software bug discovered by the manufacturer. Reprinting user guides is costly while adding the update to the CD would cost next to nothing. The website should, of course, have up-to-date data.

Scanners, digital cameras, and printers are three common pieces of equipment that people seem to struggle with. It is usually the “twain” driver, used by the first two devices, that causes difficulties. The USB (Universal Serial Bus) is used by the vast majority of modern scanners and cameras to communicate with their host computers. As soon as you connect to a new device, any USB port will recognize it as a new addition, earning them the name “hot swap” ports. The most common mistake is to connect the gadget to power before installing the necessary software.

The majority of devices require software installation prior to being plugged in. Scan the user guide. If that’s the case, boot your computer up, plug the USB cord into the new device (which you’ve already turned on), and then into your computer. The screen should display text like “scanner found” or “camera found.” Even before the software is completely installed, you may see a prompt on the screen instructing you to “plug in your device.” If you carefully adhere to the guidelines, you should be fine.

The installation process for printers is similar. Combination printers/scanners are highly recommended if you need to print in color. A laser printer is the most efficient option for simple text printing.

The monitor is another device that people frequently inquire about. In most cases, adjusting a monitor’s settings will be required once it has been successfully connected. The image on your screen may look slightly different depending on the video card you use and the monitor you use. Make sure the monitor’s settings allow the image to fill the entire screen. If there is a black space around the edges of your screen, the monitor has to be readjusted. I’ve seen 17-inch screens that were so skewed that appeared to be 15 inches.

Be sure to adjust Windows’ internal settings for your display output. Depending on the size and resolution of your display, I typically select 1024 x 768 with 16-bit color.

If you take the time to read the handbook and then carefully follow the instructions, setting up new devices will be a breeze. You can probably find the user guide online if you don’t have it on hand. You should also look at “YouTube.” I’ve learned a lot about setting up and using new gadgets in the periphery from the tutorials I’ve discovered there.
