The real challenge is in the fact that it takes hundreds if not thousands of posts (or videos or a combination) to drive noteworthy traffic that can sustain a real online business.

The benefit of organic traffic is that you receive residual rewards for all of your efforts… This is what you see in the video where I reveal my organic traffic stats and analytics.

My early videos are still driving traffic through YouTube to this day… My early blog posts are still driving traffic through Google, to this day.

This early traffic is now compounding with the traffic and receiving from videos I’ve made this week and last month… The commutative result is a large Increase in website traffic, both month over month and year over year.

Earlier this year I met up with Neil Patel at the Affiliate Summit West event in Vegas. for the VIP attendees there was a Neil Patel SEO meet and greet with question-and-answer.

And immediately implemented one specific test strategy Neil Patel told me about, which was to run paid YouTube traffic to my best-performing videos because it would increase my organic YouTube traffic.

He recommended I run traffic for two months and then turn it off for two months, continuing to cycle on and off the traffic in 60 day increments.

This was in January so I had paid traffic running to my YouTube videos through early March.

Today, I am able to see a noticeable increase in organic traffic numbers after turning off the YouTube ads in March over one month ago.

Unique links are tough to build. It requires you to create backlinks from different websites rather than multiple links from the same websites. At Ahrefs, we call them “Referring Domains.”

In general, a link from a unique website will be more powerful than a second or third link from a blog that’s already linking to you.

Some skeptics believe that link building is “useless.” However, there are countless studies that suggest backlinks are one of Google’s #1 SEO ranking factors.

And it will likely continue to be important for your SEO strategy in 2019 if you want to rank on Google.

Resource page link building is a link building strategy that I highly recommend for beginners to SEO.

And even if you’re an SEO expert, you can still use this tactic to get links at scale.

So what is a “resource page” in the world of search engine optimization?

A typical resource page usually lists a bunch of links to helpful resources on a particular topic.

And the reason why it’s effective is because unlike a lot of other link building techniques, the intention behind these pages is literally to link to other resources.

So by reaching out to these pages with solid recommendations, you’re contributing to the purpose of that page.

Whereas, when you try to get editorial backlinks from a blog post, you need to do a little more convincing since their goal is to deliver their own information, rather than link to external resources.

This link building technique is a simple two-step process.

1. Find resource pages.
2. Send an email to the person in charge of that page with one or more recommendations from your site.

To find resource pages, you can do a Google search using Google advanced search operators. Here are a few examples:

inurl:links.html “your topic”
inurl:resources.html “your topic”
inurl:.com/resources intitle:”your topic”

After you’ve entered one of these queries in Google, you can use the Scraper for Chrome extension to get the top 100 Google search results.

You can use this custom XPath code in the scraper extension:
//div[@class=”srg”]/div/div/div/div/a/@href

Next, you can use a crawler like Screaming Frog + Ahrefs to get the SEO metrics on all of these URLs. It would be to your advantage to use your Ahrefs account so you can get metrics like Domain Rating and URL rating to get an understanding if these are pages are worth pursuing to get backlinks.

You can then use Excel or Google Sheets to speed up your backlink analysis and prospecting. A lot of tips and filters are shown in the video to make this very efficient.

Next, you can crawl the URLs of your final prospect list and download the external links on these websites.

From here, you can analyze their backlink profiles in bulk with Ahrefs’ Batch Analysis tool or individually in Site Explorer.

Just go to the backlinks report and type a footprint like “resources” in the include search box.

This will show you all the resource page backlinks that your competitors have gotten. You can then reach out to these websites and get your resources mentioned there too.

SEO Tactic 1 : Google Analytics

Log into Google Analytics
Acquisition
Search Console
Landing Pages

Look at all pages.

Compare impressions and clicks and CTR – click through rate.

Click the url and look at all the search queries the page rank for.

Export the report and import into Excel or Google Sheet.

Look to see if any search queries stand out.

SEO Tactic 2 : Manual page review

Manually review your page.
Read the title

SEO Tactic 3 : Review pages in Screaming Frog

Pop your url into Screaming Frog
Review the page title and description, word count

Was the title written to motivate, persuade and influence a person reading your page in google search results?

Go through the keywords again and look for ‘how to” in the search query.

“How to” suggests the page will be a guide or resource.

SEO Tactic 4 : Search volume with keyword research tool
Enter the seed keyword into ahrefs to find out the monthly search volume.

1000 searches a month is small volume.

28,000 searches a month is a good sized keyword for a consumer business.

Look at number of ‘having same as” keywords; if there’s less than 100 same as keywords, then the topic you are targeting is probably too low.

Look at the keyword difficulty; a score of greater than 20 for a new website is too difficult a topic to target.

Look at the domain ratings of the top 10 search results.

Look at the number of domains pointing to each url as this gives you an indication of how difficult it is to rank.

SEO Tactic 5 : compare serps metrics

Compare your page with the top 10 ranked pages.

Enter url into ahrefs
Select organic keywords
search for your keyword
Look at your keyword
click on SERPs to compare your page with the top 10 ranked pages.

Compare domains linking to pages
Compare number of keywords each page ranks for

SEO Tactic 6 : compare page word count

Compare your page word count with the word count of the top 10 pages

Copy and paste all the urls and yours into http://www.seoreviewtools.com/bulk-web-page-word-count-checker/

Word count is an indicator of page quality

SEO Tactic 7 : LSI keywords

Find out if your page has the right words and count on it by using textoptimizer.com

Go to your url
open up to textoptimizer.com plugin
enter your seed keyword
then find out the phrases to add to your page or remove from your page.
80% and above and your page content is now more relevant.

And it is when you are building links from a bunch of high authority sources to your website also known as the money site. Transcript: “As buying backlinks is often the quickest way to acquire them, for lots of businesses it’s the most appealing option. The problem? Google clearly states that buying backlinks to improve your rankings breaches their guidelines. Any website found to be engaging in the practice is liable to be penalised by Google. The consequences of a penalty can be severe. It’s common for penalised sites to lose rankings for all keywords for 6 months or more. A dilemma is created though by the fact that buying backlinks can and does work. Lots of businesses do it, especially in competitive industries, and lots of them get good rankings as a consequence and have never been caught or penalised in years of doing so. The lowest risk paid backlinks are those created in a way that makes them look exactly like a normal link on a normal site. If the site selling the links sells only a few of them, only links to relevant sites, and only adds sold links within relevant articles (instead of in the sidebar or footer), then Google will probably never realise the links have been paid for. Due to the relatively high cost of buying high quality backlinks, lots of businesses become tempted by the many low quality ones on offer. Plenty of websites sell links for a few dollars a month. These low quality paid links can work, but it’s 50/50 at best as to whether they’ll have any significant effect on improving your rankings. As well as potentially being a waste of money, low quality paid links are extremely high risk. People that sell backlinks cheaply have to cut corners to be able to make a profit from their scheme, and doing so makes them easy for Google to find, and they will find them — it’s just a matter of time. So, should your business buy backlinks? If you want a risk free approach to SEO then, no, you shouldn’t buy them. For most businesses, especially small or local ones, the temporary gains aren’t worth the risk, even if you perceive it to be a low one. Instead, invest the money in creating content and promoting your site in a way that attracts natural backlinks. It doesn’t cost more money taking this approach, and you can ultimately achieve the same results, it just requires more patience.”

Today we are going to be talking about Hero SEO, the easy traffic boost. This is one of the easiest things you can do in a few simple steps when starting with a new client or applying this on an existing website.

These steps are going to reward queries that you are after, it is going to reward the money keywords, traffic and sales.

This is what I call the Jenga technique, an easy and more importantly a safe way of getting a 10-15% traffic boost to your website.

For easy, safe and repeatable ways of increasing traffic, we will be following the below techniques.

1. Riding the wave concept: You go to webmaster tools and click on ‘search queries’. Then simply add those relevant queries that webmaster tools has picked up onto your website’s content to rank for those queries. You can see as much as 1-4 position increase for doing little to no work.

The idea is to repeat this process several times throughout your website’s pages in order to acquire a collective increase of different terms. An increased ranking spot by 1 to 4 positions will yield between 0.5% to 15% in traffic per keyword… so you can see how powerful this easy to implement technique really is.

My formula & process for increasing the best keyword:

1. Go to ‘search queries’ on Webmaster Tools.
2. Sort by 250 rows
3. Sort by CTR

Your best keywords are going to be between 2% and 18% CTR. However, If you do not want to go by CTR, then I will show you an example of taking it one step further and simply pulling out the data from raw positions between 4 and 13. Getting your page from the second page of Google to the first can reap many rewards.
